To The Pointe!
Vivettes Dance Studio Newsletter Nov. 12, 2011

1.  STATEMENTS:
After applying the Uncle Jerry Fundraiser credits we have re-printed the statements so
that all will know what balances currently are. Credits were applied  to costumes category, so you may be
showing a credit in costume and balance in another category. We can and will move those credits to another
“pocket“ but it‘s best to put it all on one category to start with.  I applied $1280.00 in credits.

2. LITTLE COOKIE HOUSE FUNDRAISER: Packets being passed out  as soon as I receive them  for this
fundraiser at the request of dancer families. Optional as always.

3.  COSTUMES;  Chelle, Rachel and I are nearly finished choosing costumes.  I usually do not show
costumes until we return in Jan after all have been ordered, and confirmations received.  Occaisonally there
is a problem with a costume, fabric discontinued, size not available, a barge stuck in Korea (real reason
several years ago!)  etc, and I have to choose an equivalent replacement costume. I prefer not to show
costumes to everyone until I am certain we can get them.  There will be a book available in the lobby in Jan
with all details and photo’s.

5.  PARADE OF LIGHTS: Chelle and I have decided not to do this parade this year.  We thought that
dancers would enjoy seeing it rather than being in it. Might be warmer!

6. PERFORMANCES; We are being asked to perform at several places, when details are finalized I will send
out notes.

7. STARFEET
We had a great time at the Dance Directive workshop on Sunday, Oct 30th . Dancers came home absolutely
exhausted! Classes taken were jazz technique, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, lyrical technique, and hip hop . I
was so proud of our dancers who did not give up and powered through even though tired. In the senior room
a Mock Audition was held. Abby Frazier was one of the last 9 dancers on the floor, and just missed being one
of the 6 dancers to “get the job.” A great experience!

8.  CHRISTMAS GIVING: We have a tradition of giving to the Food Bank each year.  This year we are
collecting boxes of Mac and Cheese.   Let’s see how many boxes we can donate!

9.  Just downright silly….Zombie Walk - Sunday Nov, 20th 3:30 to 7:00pm. To benefit food bank  **
copied from Facebook”’
“The Zombie walk will start at the parking garage across from the hospital he Zombie walk will start at the
downtown parking garage (across the street from the hospital.) Since the event is on a Sunday, hopefully we
can all cluster at the South end of the Surgical Center parking lot. If the parking lot is full-ish, just look for the
crowd of un-dead. The walk will start at 3:30. The time change is to allow us ample time to meander down
Santa Fe towards the library.
A movie is being shown at end of the walk, but the 65 spaces are already taken.

Dress code is, obviously, Zombie. Participation is open to anyone and everyone but a) $2 donation per
person or b) non-perishable food donation is required.

Things to keep in mind-
- Downtown Salina is not super busy on a Sunday afternoon. If some people would like to show up and
pretend to be "survivors" and give the Zombies something/one to chase, please do!
- Lurching towards cars at stop signs/ traffic lights is absolutely encouraged! However, please obey ALL
traffic laws and use common sense!
- We will have legal waivers for ALL participants to sign. Anyone who wants to participate that is under 18
should contact Amy Ziegler on Facebook (event is Salina, Ks Zombie walk)  for a copy of the waiver. Your
parents MUST sign it!”

The “we” above is not me, Miss V.  I’m just passing on information.
