September 2011 Newsletter
1.  Introductions:
Miss Sarah is back for her 5th  year with us.  Her daughter is in our Seniors Mon classes.   Miss Sarah will be at
the desk Mon and Tue.

Miss Anna is back  for her 2nd year with us. She will be at the desk on Wed and Thur. Her daughter Katie is
always at the studio!
They should be able to answer just about any questions, so please, ask them and not me.

Miss Chelle will be teaching in Studio B on Wed and Thur.

Miss Rachel will be teaching in Studio B on Mon and Thur.

Miss Vivette, also known as Miss V, is looking forward to a wonderful year with your dancers!  This is our 37th
year.

2) Office Hours: We are at the studio 4:00 to 10:00 Mon-Thur. Desk staff arrive around 4:15. We are not in
the studio on Fridays. Miss V teaches Sat 9-1:00. Our mailbox is a secure mailbox that requires a key to open
so you may feel comfortable putting payments or notes to us in it.

If desk staff are unavailable,  there is a mailbox on the front desk that you may put payments and notes in for
us to look at after class.

3) Notes and Newsletters
I will be sending home lots of notes and newsletters, so read them and keep them all!  Please read the note
before asking us questions… saves time, and because our desk staff  might not know the answer off the top of
their heads.  I really encourage everyone to get a notebook and keep all studio notes in it.   I will also use
emails to keep you informed of studio happenings.

Studio Policies and Calendar
Please refer to Studio Policies brochure for all policies and procedures.  A calendar is on the back page of this
with important dates for your information.  Please keep this calendar handy to add  to as things come up. I try to
keep the one on the website up to date.

4) Website and email
Website: www.vivettesdance.com I will put every newsletter up on the website on the news and newsletter page.
It’s simply impossible for me or front desk staff  to call everyone with information that we’ve already passed out,
but the website will be a good alternative.
I realize that a few of our dancer families do not have email. We will try to make a no-email list and mail a
hard copy of any important email to you. Please leave your name at desk if you fall into this category.

At this point, the website can only be changed from my home computer. In case of weather or other emergency
I will contact radio stations.

5) CONTACTING ME:
I am also a substitute teacher for USD 305 and I sub a lot.  The studio phone will usually call forward to my cell
phone, which I cannot answer during school hours.  I will listen to all messages after school and front desk staff
or I will call you back if needed.  We do appreciate those calls telling us that a dancer is sick and will not attend.

We now have email access at the studio. Which we will check when we get to studio each day at 4pm and
before leaving.  Vivettesdance@hotmail.com Email is the best way to contact me.

Memo Me forms are on the front desk if you have a question for one of the teachers that desk staff cannot
answer.

5).  STATEMENTS:  Attached to this newsletter is a statement containing charges for Registration fees, any
balances remaining for dancewear, September tuition
I printed this Sun 9/4 so any checks received after that of course won’t be reflected on your statement.
If you ever feel that we have made an error front desk staff or I will be happy to print out your ledger so that
you can compare check numbers given with check numbers recorded.  We try very hard not to make mistakes,
but occasionally we do.
Credit card payments are run on the 15th of each month.
If you have prepaid for any category the computer will always subtract that amount from the total balance
due. I will always try to catch and correct those, so that you are not confused about the amount due for the
month in question.

6) PAYMENT POLICY: Payments should be made by credit card, check, or money order only.  If you must pay
in cash please bring correct change as we are unable to make change for you.  Any additional amount will be
credited to a future expense on your account.

Payment is due the 1st class of each month.  The fee is the same for all months September through May.  A
$15.00 late fee is assessed on all accounts unpaid by the 15th.  Credit card payments eliminate the “oh I forgot
the check at home” problem. We will be happy to keep your information on file for use if you have not paid by
the 15th.  Just talk to the desk. You may receive a courtesy call from front desk staff if your account is unpaid
by the 15th.

7). DANCEWEAR - Dancewear ordered at the Dancewear Sales has been received.  Dancewear orders are
called in each Friday to avoid multiple shipping costs.  Orders placed after Sept 17th will incur a $5.00 shipping
fee.  Orders from the Weissmans catalog will have shipping charges assessed when orders are received.
Orders usually take a week after I call them in.

8). DRESS CODE.  We do have a dress code and I expect the dancers to follow it.  You don’t wear a swimsuit to
play ball and you don’t wear jeans or your soccer uniform to dance class.
The purpose of the dress code is so that we may concentrate on our dancing and not be distracted by
wearing clothing not made for dance.  Teachers can better make corrections when all dancers are uniform.
Tights must be worn, no exceptions, it is a health consideration.

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL DANCERS - we have gone back to dress code because allowing choice
of dancewear didn’t work well last year.  Black leo or tank top, booty shorts, tan or pink tights.

All Dancers hair should be pulled away from face in bun or at the very least a ponytail if possible.  Older
dancers especially should bun their hair for safety’s sake, as a ponytail across the eyes while doing quick turns
really hurts!  There is a box with hair bands on the counter. We will request that a dancer put their hair up if
they forget.

8).  RECITAL:  Saturday May 19thst at 1:00 and 4:00.  Our theme this year is “iDance!!”

9).  Smokey Hill  Museum Street Fair Parade.
Saturday, Sept 24, 2011.  The theme is “Celebrate Autumn”, an fall  theme.  Dancers may wear either the
“Celebrate Autumn” T-shirts or Hoodies from last year or an orange, brown or yellow t-shirt.
Dancers 6 and under will ride on the float, older ones will dance. Parade routine rehearsal Friday Sept 23, 5:00-
6:00. Wear tennis shoes, not dance shoes.

10.) CLASSES:  While some classes are large, many still have room; so don’t hesitate to tell friends and
neighbors.  You are our best advertising, tell your friends about Vivette’s Dance Studio!  Remember you
receive a $8.00  thank you  when some one gives your name when they register.

We have two specials in place : BOGO - enroll 2 new students at same time, each pay ½ price tuition for this
year. Good until Sept 30.

Free costume: Recommend our studio to a dancer, if they are still dancing in December when we order
costumes, both you and they will receive a $55.00 credit- a FREE costume for both. Good to Sept 30th.

11)  Competition teams:   The only requirements are to have had 1 year of dance at any studio and to be
willing to commit whole heartedly! Sr. Team meets on Mondays 8:00-9:00, Jr Teams on Sat am.
Technique class on Sat 9:00-10:00 is open to all team members and any other dancers.

12)  Starfeet Scentsy Fundraiser - go to http://crystal helm.scentsy.us - My open parties, scroll to Vivette’s
Dance Studio, click “buy from party” and start shopping.

13) FALL FUNDRAISER for Costumes.  information soon. This fundraiser is for YOU, not the studio.

14.) A few things you may not know about Staff: Miss Vivette. She graduated from the University Nebraska-
Omaha with a degree in El Ed and Performing Arts, but doesn’t really care about football or any sport that
doesn’t involve music and sequins. She loves to knit, and yes, she does knit her socks. She has been  married
to Sid, who works at the hospital, for 28 yrs.  Her daughter Lisette is a designer and maker of anime costumes
and accessories and works at Little Caesars.. She has 5 cats and a dog.  She considers herself to be one of
the fortunate few who wake up every morning to say “I get to go to work today”.  Dance, Art and Music have
been a huge part of her life and she feels so blessed to be able to share them with others.

Miss Chelle: “I’ve been teaching dance for over 22 years and a few things still remain # 1 for me: Help mold the
dancers self confidence to become an adult who respects others and IS respected, who believes in themselves
enough to reach for the stars and attain them and always have a soft spot for the love of dance.” Chelle has a
son named Jett, and is an aspiring author of children’s books. She works as a Para at Sunset School. She will
be taking our Bowl Game dancers to the Holiday bowl, and is the driving force behind our “Love, Chloe”
Showcase in April.

Miss Rachel is back with us for our 4th year! We are excited to have her teaching not only on Mondays this
year but also on Thursdays. When not at the studio she works at K-State Salina, and is working on her masters.

17). Snacks & Drinks: money can is on the refrigerator, we ask that you please pay for items as you buy them.
We use the money to buy more snack items, so….  All snacks are .50, water .50, gatorade 1.00.

18)  PARKING - please remember that entrance is from Armory, exit is onto Clark. We have some large classes
coming and going at the same time so be careful. We are allowed to use Armory parking unless they are using
it.
Do NOT park in the drive in front of the door.

19) Where is the other sofa? Being recovered by Marco Sandoval, dad of K Combo dancer Brandy.  He
does marvelous work on car seats, tonneu covers etc. You should see the wi
