Vivette's Dance Studio Sept Newsletter
1. Introductions:
Miss Sarah is back for her 4th year with us. Her daughter is in class Mon and Wed. Miss Sarah will be at the desk
Mon and Tue.
Miss Anna will be at our desk on Wed and Thur. She is new to the desk, but daughter Katie has been at the studio
for many years so she will be a familiar face!
They should be able to answer just about any questions, so please, ask them and not me.
Miss Chelle will be teaching in Studio B. Her bright and colorful personality is reflected in the newly painted walls!
She comes to us, of course, from the Dance Academy.
Miss Vivette, also known as Miss V, is looking forward to a wonderful year with your dancers! This is our 36th year.
I have spent the summer cleaning and organizing and feel great about the progress I made.
2) Notes and Newsletters
I will be sending home lots of notes and newsletters, so read them and keep them all! Please read the note before
asking us questions… saves time, and because our desk staff might not know the answer off the top of their
heads. A good idea is a little binder. I will also use emails to keep you informed of studio happenings.
3) Website and email
Website: www.vivettesdance.com I will put every newsletter up on the website on the news and newsletter page.
It’s simply impossible for me or front desk staff to call everyone with information that we’ve already passed out, but
the website will be a good alternative.
I realize that a few of our dancer families do not have email. We will try to make a no-email list and mail a hard
copy of any important email to you. Please leave your name at desk if you fall into this category.
1) The website can only be changed from my home computer. In case of weather or other emergency I will contact
radio stations.
4) CONTACTING ME:
I am also a substitute teacher for USD 305 and I sub a lot. The studio phone will usually call forward to my cell
phone, which I cannot answer during school hours. I will listen to all messages after school and front desk staff or I
will call you back if needed. We do appreciate those calls telling us that a dancer is sick and will not attend.
I do not have email at the studio, and so will check email when I return home after studio hours, about 10pm Mon-
Thur. Vivettesdance@hotmail.com
5). STATEMENTS: Attached to this newsletter is a statement containing charges for Registration fees, any
balances remaining for dancewear, September tuition
I printed this Mon 9/6 so any checks received after that of course won’t be reflected on your statement.
If you ever feel that we have made an error front desk staff or I will be happy to print out your ledger so that you
can compare check numbers given with check numbers recorded. We try very hard not to make mistakes, but
occasionally we do.
Credit card payments are run on the 15th of each month.
If you have prepaid for any category the computer will always subtract that amount from the total balance due. I
will always try to catch and correct those, so that you are not confused about the amount due for the month in
question.
PAYMENT POLICY: Payments should be made by credit card, check, or money order only. If you must pay in cash
please bring correct change as we are unable to make change for you. Any additional amount will be credited to a
future expense on your account.
Payment is due the 1st class of each month. The fee is the same for all months September through May. A $15.00
late fee is assessed on all accounts unpaid by the 15th. Credit card payments eliminate the “oh I forgot the check
at home” problem. We will be happy to keep your information on file for use if you have not paid by the 15th. Just
talk to the deks. You may receive a courtesy call from front desk staff if your account is unpaid by the 15th.
6). DANCEWEAR - Most dancewear ordered at the first two Dancewear Sales has been received. Dancewear
orders are called in each Friday to avoid multiple shipping costs. Orders placed after Sept 17th will incur a $5.00
shipping fee.
Orders usually take a week after I call them in.
7). DRESS CODE. We do have a dress code and I expect the dancers to follow it. You don’t wear a swimsuit to
play ball and you don’t wear jeans to dance class.
The purpose of the dress code is so that we may concentrate on our dancing and not be distracted by who has
the newest style of dancewear, or be distracted by wearing clothing not made for dance. Tights must be worn, no
exceptions, it is a health consideration.
MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL DANCERS have earned the “right” to wear dancewear of their choice, but it
must be dancewear and either Miss Chelle or I may veto their choices. These dancers may order from the
Discount Dance or Weissmans catalog or other online sources.
All Dancers hair should be pulled away from face in bun or at the very least a ponytail if possible. Older dancers
especially should bun their hair for safety’s sake, as a ponytail across the eyes while doing quick turns really hurts!
There is a box with hair bands on the counter. We will request that a dancer put their hair up if they forget.
8). RECITAL: Saturday May 21st at 1:00 Our theme this year is “Lights, Music, Dance!”
9). Smokey Hill Museum Street Fair Parade.
Saturday, Sept 25, 2009. The theme is “Celebrate Autumn”, an fall theme. Dancers may wear either the
“Celebrate Autumn” T-shirts or Hoodies. (order form on table, must be turned in Tues Sept 15th, so take the time to
write your name down or if you read this after you have left the studio, call or email.) We have 1 of each size for
sizing purposes.
Alternately, dancers may wear fall colors of brown, orange, red and yellow.
I have an idea for a float, and hope to have a fllatbed, so we will probably have a float making evening. More info
later.

credited to your costume account to reduce the amount of cash you will need to pay for your dancers costumes,

also.

we learned Greek & Turkish style belly dance and Tahitian. We performed at the evening Hafla and had a great
time! Some shopping was done, lots of fun and laughter!
18. A few things you may not know about Miss Vivette. She graduated from the University Nebraska-Omaha with a
degree in El Ed and Performing Arts, but doesn’t really care about football or any sport that doesn’t involve music
and sequins. She loves to knit, and yes, she does knit her socks. She has been married to Sid, who works at the
hospital, for 27 yrs. Her daughter Lisette is a designer and maker of anime costumes and works at Little Caesars
and McDonalds. She has 5 cats and a dog, and is currently reading her way through the Kathy Reichs Temperance
Brennan novels. She considers herself to be one of the fortunate few who wake up every morning to say “I get to
go to work today”. Dance, Art and Music have been a huge part of her life and she feels so blessed to be able to
share them with others.
19. Some things you may not know about Miss Chelle:
“I’ve been teaching dance for over 20 years and a few things still remain # 1 for me: Help mold the dancers self
confidence to become an adult who respects others and IS respected, who believes in themselves enough to reach
for the stars and attain them and always have a soft spot for the love of dance.” Chelle has a son named Jett, and
is an aspiring author of children’s books. She will be taking our Bowl Game dancers to the Outback bowl, and is the
driving force behind our “Love, Chloe” Showcase in October.
20. Snacks & Drinks: money can is on the refrigerator, we ask that you please pay for items as you buy them. We
use the money to buy more snack items, so…. All snacks are .50, water .50, gatorade 1.00.
21. PARKING - please remember that entrance is from Armory, exit is onto Clark. We have some large classes
coming and going at the same time so be careful. We are allowed to use Armory parking unless they are using it.
