WHAT DANCE MEANS TO ME BY KATIE MILLER- AGE 6
Dancing makes me feel good, and I get new friends.  Being in front of people makes me nervous sometimes, and I'm afraid
I'll trip and fall.  But trying my best makes me feel good about dancing.

WHY I LIKE TO DANCE - BY ANDREW GUISE
I like dance because I feel good when I get the moves right.  I don't care what the kids say at school, because dance
makes me feel good.  My dance makes me feel good.  My dance mates are also my friends. We are all different but when
we dance we are a team and we work together.  Thanks Miss Vivette and Miss Cassie for teaching me to dance.  You do
good work. I'm resally glad I got to go to competition and we got a 1st place.  We worked really hard.  Thank you Ian for
teaching me "coffee grinders".

Home Sweet Studio

Although my ballet studio may appear to be just a simple building, it has been my person getaway and stress reliever for fourteen
years.  Whether I'm having a good day or a bad day, a visit to my studio can lift my spirits.  When I step into the studio, I;m
hugged and greeted by all my fellow classmates.  Regardless of my popularity status at school, I[m always accepted at the
studio .  My ballet studio is my escape because of how it's decorated, the music I dance to, and the people I build relationships
with.
From the moment I walk in the door, I feel totally at home in my studio.  The decor of my ballet studio is elegant and lovely.
The walls are covered in ballerina pink paint and match the delicate curtains in the lobby.  The posters reflect every dancers
dream of being a prima ballerina.  Words of inspiration dance along the ceiling in curly pink letters,  encouraging all the dancers
to push beyond what they think is possible.  The best sight to behold though are the walls of trophies.  They are a display of the
effort put forth by past and present dancers who have graduated from Miss Vivette's Dance Studio, and leave a lasting legacy
for future dancers to fulfill.
Of course, while the decorations add to the ambience of the studio, the music is what relieves my stress.  I enjoy dancing to a
variety of different genres of music, depending on my mood.  However, I especially enjoy dancing to classical music and Josh
Groban.  Even if I've had a horrible day I can go to the studio and leave with a better outlook on life.  I love to crank up the
music in the studio and become immersed in a world of dance.  In my opinion, there isn't a better feeling in the world than the
satisfaction you get from pouring your heart and soul into a piece and feeling totally at peace with yourself in return.
However, the most important part of the studio is the people.  In fact, without the people in the studio, my experiences would be
worth very little.  The relationships I've made through the years have helped me to get through some of the most challenging
times in my life.  My teacher, Miss Vivette, is not just  a teacher.  She has been a mentor, friend, and counselor to me since I
started doing ballet over fourteen years ago.  Through the years, my fellow dancers have become like sisters to me, too.  I
relieve stress, spill my innermost thoughts, and get support from my '"sisters " on a daily basis.  Most of all, I love the satisfaction
of being able to give back to my close-knit family of dancers for all the times they have given to me.
Without the experiences I've had at my studio, I probably wouldn't be the person that I am today.  Through the years of tedious
practices, I've been taught the value of friendship, learned life lessons, and discovered how precious each day truly is.  I've also
learned to be confident in myself and to be poised and graceful.  Finally, I've learned you must work hard and fully commit
yourself to your goal in order to succeed.  My ballet studio is my escape because of how it's decorated, the music I dance to,
and the people I build relationships with.  I may not be an Anna Pavolva, but dance has taught me to believe that I am capable
of being just a s great.
