STARFEET ACADEMY
Competition Teams
Our Competition Teams perform under the name StarFeet Academy
StarFeet Academy is a commitment based competition team.
SFA dancers choose to compete. This is a unique and different approach from
most dance studio's where competition teams are chosen by audition.
Vivette's Dance Studio chooses to bring out the best in each dancer rather than
choosing only the "best" dancers.
This is a competitive world and many feel that children need to be taught to
compete at a young age. We are not a competition oriented studio. There isn't a
trophy big enough for me to tell a young dancer that they are not 'good
enough" to be on our team. We compete for the fun of it, to stretch our selves,
to reach new goals and to be the best we can be. We work on skills appropriate
to ability and strive for a strong technical base, not just the "trick of the week".
We try to be the best we can be, not better than the rest. I'll be honest, if you
are interested "dominating" or "crushing" other dancers, we are not the studio
for you, you'll be happier elsewhere.
SFA dancers agree to a year long commitment of rehearsals and performances,
and take team classes as well as ballet and jazz classes. Competition routines
are learned in the summer and fall, and are performed throughout the year at
various venues, such as area nursing homes, and ball games.
We are attending Elite Dance Cup in Wichita, IDC in Lawrence, Dance Out and
Talent on Parade in Wichita.
For 2011-12 we have 3 teams: Rising Stars and Shining Stars and Shooting
Stars, coached by Miss Vivette .

"Dance Moms" is not an accurate representation of dance competitions, nor the dancers and dance families who participate in them. We reject the standards and attitudes displayed on that so-far-from reality program. Miss Vivette and Miss Rachel
