| To The Pointe! Vivette's Dance Studio April Newsletter IT’S SPRING! 1. STATEMENTS: Attached to this note is a statement containing charges from Sept - April . A reminder that all fees must be paid before recital. If there is an amount under costumes, this is because your dancers costume ran over the budgeted amount by this amount. 2. Flower Power Fundraiser - DUE THURSDAY, APRIL 1ST. I can’t accept late turn ins on this one, as the fundraiser has a definite cut off date for shipping due to growing times of products, so if you do not turn in your forms by Thursday, you’ll have to go to the trouble of returning people’s money. Plan ahead. One of our dancers sold her entire order forms worth! 3, Talent on Parade Competition - deadline Thursday, April 1st. Your decision affects others, so tell notify me NOW in writing, if you have an issue with this weekend. This will be our last competition for the season. 4, Sunday, April 25th, 4:00 pm Dancers Against Cancer at Central High School Auditorium. Vivette’s Dance Studio has 5 groups performing. Mon Pre K - Do Re Mi 5. Costumes: All costumes are in! Tights were passed out last week or this week. Remember a costume with long pants may need to be hemmed as they send them long enough for the tallest dancer. If your dancer has more than one costume, do remember to order your underliner at www.curtaincallforclass. com or www.discountdance.com or www.designsfordance.com . An under liner is a nude leotard that a dancer puts on 1st (instead of underwear) ( you don’t wear underwear under a swimsuit and you don’t wear it under underliners) then her tights, then the costume. With an underliner, a dancer can change tights and costumes with modesty even though there is no privacy. Don’t wait too long, it’s a busy time of year for dancewear companies. 6. Shoe order: It’s Spring and that means that like the flowers, the dancers feet are growing. I will send in one last shoe order on April 9th, so please check your dancers shoes. We have a few new shoes available for sale on the table and be sure check the used shoes supply too! 7. Proud Parent Tshirts have been delivered. We have a few extra on the table. 8. Recital and Starfeet t-shirts have been ordered. We’ll send them home when they arrive, and post the charges. 9. RECITAL PACKET: Dancers should have received their recital packet last week. Absent dancers will receive them at next class attended. At $1.50 each, and a trip to post office, I don’t want to mail them. Please hang onto them for future reference. We have extra packets for two household families. Each contains Summer Schedule (deadline May 26), Fall enrollment (deadline May 26), Photo Schedule (May 1st) , Finale information, Hair and Makeup guidelines and for dancers 8th-12th grades information about a bowl game performance. The bowl game performance is being co-ordinated by Chelle Jennings-Seyfert of Dance Academy and is open to any dancer grades 8-12 in Salina. 11. Theft/Trial: The trial of former employee Dawn Glassburn has been set for May 26th. 12. TROPHY PARTY: CHANGE! Due to the scheduling of the trial, I’m changing our Wed May 26th trophy party to Thursday, May 27th 3:00-5:30. This is a come and go, pick up your trophy, eat some cookies, watch the recital video &, chat event. 13. Performances: We performed at 4 NCJAA basketball games over Spring Break. It’s always exciting to perform at such a large venue! Soloists : Rhyanna Bruner, Michelle Beasley, Suzy Weller, Kaitlyn Lindsey and Ashley Hummel performed. Dream Ballet was danced by Hayley Wilcox, and Makenzie Hanchett, Garden Ballet was danced by Jenessa Henderson and Adyson Burr. Starfeet dancers greatly enjoyed our time at International Dance Challenge in Lawrence the weekend of March 13, and Elite Dance Cup in Wichita March 6th. The competition for the weekend of March 20th was cancelled so we are now working on improving the technical aspects commented on by judges in order to improve our scores for Talent on Parade May 8-9-10. I am working on some nursing and retirement home peformances for the week before recital. Schedules will be sent home as soon as I have them! |
