TO THE POINTE!
January 2010 Newsletter
1. STATEMENTS: attached to this newsletter is the current statement for your account from September to Jan.
December late fees been posted.
Costume late fees will be posted Jan.9th, these were due Dec. 18th.
2. COSTUMES: The costume book will be available in the lobby for parents to see my choices. Your costume
package will come with accessories and tights. I did find prices for the older and larger dancers to be higher so
adjustments will be made in Feb.
3. KLEENEX DONATION: I took 26 boxes of Kleenex over to the Food Bank. They were very grateful for the gift
and wish to thank all the dancers who donated for their kindness and generosity.
4. NEW DANCES: We will begin working on our new dances for 35th recital “Back to Broadway” this week. As I
have time, I will make a practice CD for the dancers with their music on it. As I get these done a $2.00 charge
will be place in your misc account. This takes a great deal of my time, so please be patient.
Our recital t-shirts for are being designed by Shirts by Francis. What will they look like? Shhh it’s a secret.
Everyone gets a recital t-shirt, no need to order, but we will ask you to check the size we’ve chosen for your
dancer and to okay the spelling of your dancers name. These lists will go up on the windows in Feb or March.
5. DANCERS FOR CANCER: After 4 years as Chairman of this fundraiser I decided I needed to step down and
let someone else run it. At this time, no other dance studio is willing, so we will not sponsor it this year. If
someone else steps up to run it we will participate.
6. WINTER WEATHER: We’ve had one snow day already this season and the weather is unpredictable.
Remember to check www.Ksalink.com for closings situations. If I am at home, I can post cancellations on the
studio website. I always call Salina Media Group (Ksal, etc). I will also send out emails.
7. EMAIL address: I have noticed several email address bouncing back to me. If you did not receive an email
from me over winter break, please email me at Vivettesdance@hotmail.com so that I can add you to the group
listing, or fill out a “Memo Me” page.
8. Adult or Teen Country Western Swing, Ballroom or Salsa Classes.
Please let desk know or leave us a memo if you are interested.
9. STARFEET COMPETITION TEAMS
New warm ups are being ordered for those who need new ones. See attached forms.
Charges for solo or duet costumes ordered over the break are under Starfeet on your account.
Competition information was mailed out.
Look for January performance schedule next week.
10. Miss Rachel’s and Guest Teachers
Miss Rachel is in Brazil for her last internship before she graduates from Bethany College.
Miss Vicky will be substituting on Mondays. She has been my friend for about 22 years and has run her own
studio’s in Belleville, Concordia and Hillsboro. She now lives in McPherson and teaches for a Angel Feet Studio
in Moundridge.
Miss Jennifer is substituting on Tuesdays. She most recently owned a dance studio in Minneapolis.

Did you replace your TV, or Christmas tree? Check with us before throwing it out the old. I’d like a larger TV for
Studio B, and another Christmas trees for next year. One dancers trash is another one’s treasure!
11. Performances In November and December we performed at 3 Brown Mackie Basketball games, Sterling
House, College Park, Drury Place and even Dillons Grand opening. We were busy!
We will continue to perform when asked.
12. Personal: As I’m sure most of our studio family is aware we experienced a theft of the fundraiser funds in
November. Dawn Glassburn our former Wed./Thur receptionist has been charged with this.
I want to make sure that everyone understands that Miss Sarah who works the desk Monday and Tuesday is not
involved in this!
The preliminary hearing was Monday, Dec. 28th. Our loss is about $5000.00 with no chance of recovering the
funds as I was told by Emily Mitchell, county attorney.
Fundraiser items were eventually delivered on Thur the 17th, paid for on my credit card and fundraiser credits
were applied to students accounts as I had promised even though there were not fundraiser funds to back them
up.
I found out that my commercial business insurance covers theft by intrusion but not theft by employee.
It’s been a difficult situation to deal with and I thank you for all your sympathy and caring. We have a fabulous
studio family and nothing gets us down for very long!
We will have a candle fundraiser in January. At the suggestions of one of our studio moms, the proceeds from
this fundraiser will go towards my losses from this theft.
Fundraisers are always optional, and this one is doubly so as it’s not a fundraiser for the students as we usually
do. I feel very humble and awkward asking you to do this, but many studio moms have told me they want to do
this for the studio.
Look for information in January.
