TO THE POINTE!
Updated May 3, 2010
STATEMENTS: Attached to this newsletter is a statement for charges through May 2nd , 2010. If you didn’t get a
statement, your account is probably paid in full. We will do weekly statements through May as we catch up with any
of the little things that happen at the end of the season. A reminder that all fees must be paid by recital. We take
cash, check, and all credit cards except Discover. If you have a problem, such as a once a month paycheck
coming in after recital date, please talk to Miss Sarah…as long as we know what’s going on, we can work with it.
PHOTO DAY: This was a fun and busy day as we took lots of photo’s of our classes in their beautiful costumes.
Lots of happy scrap booking time in the future! Photo’s take 6-8 weeks to come in at this time of the year, with
prom, graduations and May weddings the lab gets pretty swamped. Occasionally, we have the pictures to pass out
at the trophy party but don’t count on it. We will send out a postcard telling you they are here and you can come to
the studio to pick them up.
Dad/Daughter and Mother/Son Rehearsals went great on Sun May 2nd. We learned the dances with lots laughter
and fun.
We will have a 2nd rehearsal on Sunday May 16th, same time frame.
1:00 Bitties, PreK, Beginner
1:45 Primary 1 and Primary 2
2:30 Primary 3, Middle School and HS.
I passed out notes to the choreography and took orders for the music ($1.00 to cover cd cost) for those that
wanted.
We are taking names for a 2nd order for the Tux shirts. We need at least 12 for her to reprint. So, if you “meant
to”, or just plain forgot, sign up.
SUMMER CLASSES: The YELLOW page has our summer schedule on it. It’s also on the webpage. We will be
adding to this as the month goes on. We try to make available some “fun” stuff in the way of mini camps and “fun
days” as well as our regular dance classes.
FALL CLASSES: Please fill out the ORANGE page with your preferences. Chelle and I will work together with our
turned in forms to make a workable schedule for both our studio’s. If you don’t turn in a form, I won’t know that you
want a Wed tap class for a 7yr old. (or whatever) Please, help me out!
WEBSITE: I’m really trying to put everything on the website for those late night I can’t find the note questions.
TESTIMONIALS: Speaking of the website …I’d like to update the website testimonials as some of those are from
dancers have moved on through graduation etc. I’ll put a box on the lobby table (what would we do with out that
table?) and some paper so if you would like to say something nice about our studio, please do. You may remain
anonymous if you wish. Of course, to be fair, if you have a complaint, well you can let me know that too, and I’ll do
my best to see what I can do about it.
BUSY TIME OF YEAR: In normal times, I remember 90% of what I see and 10% of what I hear, at this time of the
year that 10% drops to about 2%…please don’t TELL me anything important, write it down. There are “Memo Me”
forms or “Parent Concern” forms available.
REHEARSALS: The rehearsal schedule was included in the recital packet, it’s up on the website, and extra‘s are on
the lobby information table. Friday, May 21st is a costume rehearsal.
NURSING HOME SHOW: We have been asked to perform at the Presbyterian Manor on Wed May 19th at 6;00pm. I
plan to take mostly younger dancers, esp. the Wed dancers and will put a list up for you to let me know if you can
attend. We will wear our costumes to this. I am playing phone tag with Pinnacle Park so don’t have a date for this
one yet.
SMALL BUT IMPORTANT DETAILS: Please check that after photo weekend all your costume parts got put back
together. I have 1 black jazz shoe, a lipstick and a pair of tan tap shoes.
Put your dancers name in everything…I’m not kidding… I’ve told this story before but…One year a mom called me
the morning of recital to tell me her daughter had lost her ballet shoes, and asked, had I seen them? I asked if her
name was in them and she said “no, but they’re pink.”……
TROPHY/COOKIE/VIDEO PARTY:
Thursday May 27th, 5:00-7:00 - Stop by, watch the video, pick up your trophies, bring some cookies, eat some
cookies…lots of fun!
SALINA JOURNAL READERS CHOICE AWARDS:
For 3 years Dance Academy won Salina’s Favorite Dance Studio, last year was Dance Elite… I think it’s our turn!
Let’s make a change this year…Vote for Vivette’s Dance Studio. The journal ran a full page ballot on Sunday, and
it’s also on the internet.
The catch is that you MUST fill in 70% of the categories or they will toss it out. (and do you have a favorite
caterer? I don’t…) We’ll be happy to finish filling in your forms for you! Just drop them by with the categories you
do care about filled in with the name and address section filled out. If you have a business and would like to be
“favorited” let us know! It’s silly I know, but just once, I’d like VIVETTE’S to win.
