RECITAL IS SATURDAY, MAY 22ND, 1:00PM AT CENTRAL HIGHSCHOOL!

1.  STATEMENTS: If you have a balance due you will have a statement attached to this newsletter. No statement,
you are “fee free:” I really would appreciate all balances being caught up, I have to pay for auditorium, programs,
trophies, lighting,  and many other recital expenses all in May.

2.  SENIOR NEWS: Billie Rae Kline has been accepted as a member of the Concordia Community College’s dance
team and has won a $1000.00 scholarship.

If you missed the 1st rehearsal, now’s the time to learn the easy and fun to do choreography. If you came the 1st
time, you are welcome again.

5.  REHEARSALS
Just a reminder:  Jr and Sr dancers are rehearsing on stage next Monday May 17th  7pm-9pm.  We will not have
“lights” and the large sound system, but we will have the stage. Costumes optional if you want to have a chance to
dance in them as  we didn’t have any pre-performances this year. This includes the Monday HS dancers and the
Tues MS and HS dancers.

The remainder of the dancers are rehearsing on stage Friday at Central High School. We will have had 2 nursing
home performances in costume so it is not necessary for dancers to wear their costumes unless you and they want
them too.

Jr and Sr dancers will not rehearse their dances on Friday (except Starfeet Dancers) but should come as you will
be assisting the younger ones.

Starfeet rehearsal is 5:00-6:00,
Finale dance with Dads and Dancers is 6:00-6:30,
We plan to start the rehearsing the remainder of the dances in show order (minus the older girls & Starfeet)
beginning at 6:30.
Dancers SHOULD wear their tights (old ones!) and dance shoes. LABEL EVERYTHING!!!

When your dancer is finished you may leave.

FEEL FREE to videotape and take photo’s at the rehearsal.
You are politely requested not to at the recital.

REMINDER: There is to be NO FOOD, NO POP in the auditorium.  Any dancers that are there from 5pm-9pm (&
there are only a few! ) must eat in the hallway and pick up after themselves. I am not a custodian and the custodian
has other things to do than pick up your burger bags. Water in a screw top bottle is allowed.

LOTS OF   RECITAL “THINGS”
1.  Legleiter Video is videotaping our show.  Orders will be taken at the recitals. They use state of the art camera’s
and produce a wonderful DVD.  Personal video taping should be done at rehearsals, so that you may enjoy the
recital.

2. Our senior Rhyanna Bruner and Billie Rae Kline  will have the front row reserved for them.  Please respect this, it’
s a privilege for the seniors.

3.  No Flash photography is allowed.  (That means cell phones too!) As one dancer said, “It’s very annoying to see
all those flashes of light as you are dancing. “ It’s also very distracting to the little ones who have a hard enough
time concentrating on their dances.

4.  Use only positive words to your dancer.  I’m excited to see you dance. I so proud of you.  Daddy and I are happy
today is your recital day.
Never say “are you nervous” “don’t be scared” “do you have stage fright”.

I will stand on stage with the younger dancers so that they will feel comfortable and re-assured and can enjoy their
special moment.

Take the little ones out for ice cream after recital. Nothing is more fun than wearing your costume to Braums!

5.  We are selling beautiful Rose Bouquets before each show and at intermission as long as supplies last, at $5.00
each.

6.  For both shows all dancers will be in the band room.  Jr’s and Sr’s will change in the Little Theatre but before
the younger ones arrive.  Other  dancers should arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before the show, dressed in their
1st dance costume., hair done and make up on. Find the chair with your dancers name on it and tell the helper (s)
she’s here.  Pick her up after bows.  No dancers will be released from the band room without a parent.  They are
not allowed to go look for you.

7.   Parents are reminded NOT to use the side stage exits before or during the show.  You must use the lobby
entrance to the auditorium. I have helpers backstage so there is no need for mothers to leave their seats travel to
the dressing rooms to change skirts or shoes. Sit down. Enjoy the show. Let us do the work.

I say this each year, and each year, someone thinks that their needs are more important than that of the dancers
on the stage.  Don’t be selfish, walk around.

8.    All Hairpieces go on the right side of the head, unless it’s a bow that goes on top of the ponytail.

9.  It’s a Dance Recital, not a basketball game.  The shouting out of  each dancers name “Go Hannah, Go Katie,
Go Susy, “ gets tiresome, and can cause a dancer to get startled and make a mistake.   Feel free to clap! Clap
when we come on stage, when we do a great turn, when we do kicks, a leap, or when we bow.  Clap, don’t’ shout.

10.  Pick up after yourself.  Leave the auditorium, lobby and dressing rooms as clean as you found them.

11. After the show, stay a little if you can to help us tear down.  We must transport the sound system and floor back
to the studio right after the recitals. This year we also need to dismantle some of the additional lighting provided by
SCT. A few extra daddies will make it so much easier.  I know you are tired….me too.  There is a sign up sheet on
one of the lobby tables to help us transport the floor and sound system to the studio, and to return it afterwards.

12.  I need a person to sit at the sound table and stop and start the master cd’s. Richard Bruner has done this for
several years, but I’d like him to be able to watch Rhyanna perform from the audience this year.  Perhaps an older
brother????

13  THANK YOU TO ALL THE PARENTS, MOM, DADS, GRANDMAS AND GRANDPA’S.
You are raising amazing children, it’s so wonderful to have the chance to work with them.  I appreciate all the efforts
you make to bring them to class, rehearsals, basketball games,  nursing home shows, helping them to practice at
home.

I love my job, and you make it possible for me to get up every morning and feel lucky that I get to go to the studio to
teach.
Thanks also to my terrific staff and teachers.  You make the program great!  Miss V
