To the Pointe!
Vivette's Dance Studio
September 2009 Newsletter

1.  Introductions:
Miss Sarah
is back for her 3rd year with us.  Her daughter is in our P3 Tue class.  Miss Sarah will be at the desk
Mon and Tue.

Miss Dawn is back for her 2nd year with us and will be at the desk Wed and Thur. Her daughter is in our Pre K
class, and niece Ashley is in our Tue P3 class.

They should be able to answer just about any questions, so please, ask them and not me.

Miss Rachel is back for her 3rd year with us teaching Mon, Tue, and Thur. She is a  4th year business major at
Bethany College and has just returned from a summer internship in Japan.

Miss Vivette, also known as Miss V, is looking forward to a wonderful year with your dancers!  This is our 35th
Anniversary year! We will be celebrating a lot this year!

I had shoulder surgery this summer, which turned out to be more extensive than we planned on, but I’ve been
doing my rehab and my exercises and I’m about 85% of full function, the remaining 15% should take the rest of
the year to attain, but I’m feeling great!

Miss Bethany has returned to college at West Texas A&M, and is really enjoying her return to daily ballet classes
and auditions for performance pieces.

Miss Rhyanna is enjoying her senior year at Bennington Highschool as a dancer, and will enjoy taking classes
this year and not teaching them. She says ‘Hi“ to all her girls from last year.
She is captain of the Dazzlers Dance Team, and a member of our Senior Stars competition team.

2) Notes and Newsletters
I will be sending home lots of notes and newsletters, so read them and keep them all!  Please read the note
before asking us questions… saves time, and because our desk staff  might not know the answer off the top of
their heads.  A good idea is a little binder.  I will also use emails to keep you informed of studio happenings.

3) Website and email
Website: www.vivettesdance.com I will put every newsletter up on the website on the news and newsletter page.
It’s simply impossible for me or front desk staff  to call everyone with information that we’ve already passed out,
but the website will be a good alternative.

1) The website can only be changed from my home computer. In case of weather or other emergency I will contact
radio stations.

I realize that a few of our dancer families do not have email. We will try to make a no-email list and mail a hard
copy of any important email to you. Please leave your name at desk if you fall into this category.

4) CONTACTING ME:
I am also a substitute teacher for USD 305 and I sub a lot.  The studio phone will usually call forward to my cell
phone, which I cannot answer during school hours.  I will listen to all messages after school and front desk staff  or
I will call you back if needed.  We do appreciate those calls telling us that a dancer is sick and will not attend.

I do not have email at the studio, but am often able to check my email during breaks at school, so email me at
Vivettesdance@hotmail.com

5).  STATEMENTS:  Attached to this newsletter is a statement containing charges for Registration fees, any
balances remaining for dancewear, September tuition

I printed this Mon  9/7 so any checks received after that of course won’t be reflected on your statement,

If you ever feel that we have made an error front desk staff or I will be happy to print out your ledger so that you
can compare check numbers given with check numbers recorded.  We try very hard not to make mistakes, but
occasionally we do.

Credit card payments are run on the 15th of each month.

PAYMENT POLICY: Payments should be made by credit card, check, or money order only.  If you must pay in
cash please bring correct change as we are unable to make change for you.  Any additional amount will be
credited to a future expense on your account.

Payment is due the 1st class of each month.  The fee is the same for all months September through May.  A
$15.00 late fee is assessed on all accounts unpaid by the 15th.  Credit card payments eliminate the “oh I forgot
the check at home” problem.  You may receive a courtesy call from front desk staff if your account is unpaid by
the 15th.

6). DANCEWEAR - Most dancewear ordered at the first two Dancewear Sales has been received.  Dancewear
orders are called in each Friday to avoid multiple shipping costs.  Orders placed after Sept 13th will incur a $5.00
shipping fee.
Orders usually take a week after I call them in.

7). DRESS CODE.  We do have a dress code and I expect the dancers to follow it.  You don’t wear a swimsuit to
play ball and you don’t wear jeans to dance class.
The purpose of the dress code is so that we may concentrate on our dancing and not be distracted by who has
the newest style of dancewear.  Tights must be worn, no exceptions, it is a health consideration.

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL DANCERS have earned the “right” to wear dancewear of their choice,
but it must be dancewear and either Miss Rachel,  I may veto their choices.  These  dancers may order from the
Discount Dance or Weissmans catalog or other online sources.

All Dancers hair should be pulled away from face in bun or at the very least a ponytail if possible.  Older dancers
especially should bun their hair for safety’s sake, as a ponytail across the eyes while doing quick turns really
hurts!   I usually have hair bands and will request that a dancer put their hair up if they forget.

8).  RECITAL:  Saturday May 22rd at 1:00 or 4:00.  Some dancers may appear in both shows.  Our theme this
year is “CELEBRATE! BACK TO BROADWAY!”

9).  Smokey Hill  Museum Street Fair Parade.
Saturday, Sept 26, 2009.  The theme is “Go Wild”, an animal theme.  We will be “35 years Going Wild for Dance”.
Dancers may wear either the 35th Anniversary T-shirts or Hoodies . (order form on table, must be turned in Tues
Sept 15th, so take the time to write your name down or if you read this after you have left the studio, call or email.)
We have 1 of each size for sizing purposes.

Alternately, dancers may dress up as an animal.

I have an idea for a float, but no capacity to create it so if you have a flatbed and some basic skills, please contact
me.

10.  CLASSES:  While some classes are large, many still have lots of room; so don’t hesitate to tell friends and
neighbors.  You are our best advertising, tell your friends about Vivette’s Dance Studio!  Remember you receive a
$5.00  thank you  when some one gives your name when they register. I know that many people are afraid of the
economy but I pledge that I will do my very best this year as always to hold costume fees down.

11.  Competition teams: This year we have 3 teams,  Rising Stars, Jr Stars and Sr. Stars. There is still time to
sign up for our teams. Rising Stars and Jr Stars meet on Saturday mornings, Sr Stars on Tue evening.

12.  Did you see our commercial?  It’s been so much fun having people tell me they saw them. I filmed this on the
morning of the “hurricane” which is the only reason my van wasn’t mashed by the tree that totaled my daughters
car.

13.  Please refer to the information page for all policies and procedures.  A calendar was included in your packet
with important dates for your consideration.  Please keep this calendar handy to add  to as things come up.

14.  Couples Classes: See attached page for more detailed information.  A great price for a fun time. A couple
does not need to be husband/wife’ just two people.

15.  FALL FUNDRAISER -
information soon. This fundraiser is for YOU, not the studio. Profits from sales are
credited to your costume account to reduce the amount of cash you will need to pay for your dancers costumes,
etc.  In the past some “eager beavers” have sold enough to not only pay for costumes but much of the years
tuition also.

16.   WINDOW CLINGS - order sheet is on the This and That table in the lobby.

17.  New Syllabi: The ballet syllabi has been updated, (a lot!) and while I could not go to teacher training school
this summer, I have been studying the dvd’s and notes and feel ready to teach it.

I also have a new syllabi for the pre-schoolers with lots of fun songs and dances for them.

18.  Adult Classes - at this point we have Belly Dance on Tues 7:15-8:15.
We are taking names for other classes such as tap, hip hop or jazz at the desk and will schedule when we have
enough to run a class.
