To The Pointe - December Newsletter
1. STATEMENTS: Attached to this newsletter is a statement containing charges from September through December. Please remember that your tuition is not a “monthly” tuition but rather an installment on the total price for the year which we divided into equal payments. It does not matter how many classes are in a month, the yearly total was taken into account when the tuition price was set. If you have not signed up for the auto-pay option we strongly urge that you do so that you do not incur any late fees if you forget to pay before the 10th.
2. COSTUME DEPOSITS ARE DUE BY DEC. 15TH.
Attached to your statement today are the “guesstimate amounts” as were announced in startup materials and newsletters. We have not yet made final choices. It can be a bit tricky, for example if I am thinking I am going to buy a particular clearance costume but when I go to order all the child mediums are sold out....it’s back to the drawing board. Those members who have been with us for some time know that I search for the best prices for the prettiest items. We will send out additional statements before Dec 15 if we amend prices lower.
As I’ve mentioned before it’s much easier for me to make the adjustments (Whoo hooo found a $35 hip hop costume!) if the invoice has NOT been paid online, as all I have to do is delete the guesstimate invoice and post the new one. If it has been paid on line, I have to delete the payment, delete the charge, post a new charge, re-apply the payment...mistakes can happen. It’s easier for me if you give desk staff a check to be put in your deposit and I will use that to pay the invoices. I have 3 weeks left to find the best prices for the best costumes for your dancer.
You may receive costume statements each of these 3 weeks as I update things...I’m not “nagging” just updating. Remember you are concerned with one child, I am concerned with a studio full.
3. HOLIDAY CLOSINGS:
We hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving vacation. Miss V enjoyed visiting her family and getting to hold her two new grand nieces, Lakely and Genevieve, knitting, looking at the lake and visiting the SAC Air and Space Museum.
4. WINTER BREAK: WE normally follow the USD 305 schedule. We will be closed from Wed Jan 20th and re-open on Wed Jan 3rd. If your dancer is not going to attend classes on Mon, Dec.18 or Tue, Dec. 19th, please tell us, if we are down to 1 student we will ask the remaining student if they wish to stay home. We realize that some may be taking an early travel start. Same goes for Wed and Thurs. Jan 3rd, 4th as some may take a few days extra for vacation.
5. Winter Closings:
A reminder that if USD 305 closes for WEATHER we close; we do not close for teacher in-service, or conferences.
I will make other decisions on a case by case basis, using radio, and email to make the announcements. Calls to the studio will call forward to my cell phone. There is a list on the lobby table to fill out if you do not have email!
If you gave us your cell provider on the registration form we will be able to send you a group text through Compudance. I think you can put this in through the parent portal if you did not.
We generally do not close for weather if the schools have not closed unless it’s very, very icy. I do appreciate calls from my out-of- town students as some classes are small and if there is only one dancer left who is going to attend I might call that mom and say “Stay home and be warm today”.
Please remember to check at www.ksalink.com.
We will also be sending out an invitation to a phone app called BAND that allows us to post practice videos and announcements. It’s a free app. We have been using it for some time with our team parents and love it.
Snowflake Sparkles is back! Look for her around the studio!
6 GIVING BACK:
We are collecting Mac n Cheese, canned or boxes food items and hygiene items (like toothbrush, toothpaste, feminine items) for the Emergency Food Bank during the month of December. Please remember to toss an extra box or two into your cart when you shop. Our goal is 75 items. Help us reach that goal!
Each item donated earns a ticket to a drawing for a $25 studio credit to be applied to your account.
7. CHRISTMAS DANCES
Among the other work we are doing we are learning:
Starlets I Love You Santa Claus, Teddy Bear for Christmas
Meteors: Frosty the Snowman & Shake, Santa, Shake

8. BUILDING RENTAL.
The Studio is available to rent in our off hours (especially Sundays) for meetings, birthday parties, reunions, etc. Rental price is $10.00 per hour. We have tables and chairs, but for a really large group you’d need to bring in your own chairs. You may bring in food, (Lobby only!) but you must clean up after yourself.
Dances are all finished. We have ordered new team jackets. We have begun performing. Our first competition is Jan 27th in Dodge City, Kansas

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Miss Vivette and her fabulous staff.
Miss Shelby, Miss Taylor, Miss Tanya, our classroom assistants Miss Hollie and Miss Deb , Miss Perri and at the front desk Miss Sarah and Miss Sharon.
We wish you all the best; and thank you for the gift of your children. We truly have the best dancers in the city; warm, caring, dancers who love to dance for the joy of it.
I want to share a class room moment. I said to students that we were almost ready to go perform our Christmas dances at the care homes. One student said “I love the way they smile when we dance. It makes me happy.” Another student added “It’s like we are spreading joy”.
My heart melted.
